Are you saying that England has no unemployed yobs and hooligans? The boys who get drunk on a Saturday afternoon and watch the Championship game of Queens Park Rangers Vs Milwall. The young 16 to twenty something year olds who sit around in front of shopping centers, drink beer all day and curse people passing by. "Oi, you fucking packi", "Eh there love, come give us a snog" are some of their more endearing calling signs.
It's no rocket science an open door immigration policy will bring the more undesirable people into the country. This is not some forum fiction; this is well documented throughout history.
What you are calling for is an open door immigration policy to Britain because we share a 'common heritage'. You haven't answered my question, do you believe we should have an open door to Zimbabwe, India, or Nigeria?"
Where did I say we should have an open door with the UK?
Your views on Brits are well posted on this and other threads.
You think it's a level playing field having people come to Canada who can't speak English etc and obviously prefer those to the masses of 'unskilled yobs and hooligans' from the UK.
That's just plain bigotry and it's not your first post of that nature.
Just as you stereotyped most non English/European immigrants as culturally deprived non English speaking system leeches? Sitting in the ER, not a word of English? Not a dime for tax?
Your anti immigrant rants against people who don't fit your definition of '400 years of tradition' is also on full display.
It is the pot calling the kettle an immigrant.
But as with all forums, this is just opinions of individuals.
I'm sorry Sock., don’t put words into my mouth.
That was in reference to grandparents of new immigrants coming over to Canada, too old to work and being more high maintenance in health care usage, but never having paid into it.
I don’t think we should be paying for this. Do you?
I’m all for people bringing said granny over but they should pay for the health-care costs, not the tax-payer. I said that, often. Scroll back.
How is that calling the kettle black?
You made this personal by stereo-typing all Brits as ‘unskilled yobs and hooligans’ knowing full well I am a Brit.
All I can take from it that you were attacking me personally.
Even though I am an immigrant, I am entitled to an opinion.
Both you and Derby don’t seem to think so and you guys are making this personal.
No where in my posts did I attack you personally, and to be honest on my years on this board, I've rarely resorted to ad hominem attacks, even when I'm attacked personally.
This is not personal, and I certainly have no qualms with British people.
However, I'm beginning to see an "I'm British, how dare you!" attitude that's not constructive.
This is why I oppose public discussion on these issues, because one side or another will eventually call the other racist. Some may have basis, some not, but nevertheless it's a toxic result that can cause generational splits. Look at our neighbors to the south and their inability to deal with the descendants of slaves to this day.
I was disappointed by your comments regarding ER too. I know quite a few people in Canada who came here as refugees, and immigrants in the 70s, who are now entering old age. They have been working for since they came to Canada, and have contributed to our society.
I am highly disappointed that you would make the assumption that they didn't contribute because they are old. This is where your bias shows. This is a very quintessentially slanted worldview you've acquired.
This is upsetting, to say the least. Because I thought you're one of the smarter posters on this forum. I thought you were more, dare I say inoculated towards the barrage of propaganda that is spewed about hordes of 3rd world peasants with low IQs flooding to our country and leeching our system. This is a false view. A very European way of looking at others. As inferior, lower beings that can in the long term only destroy what great European minds have built.
This is where the nastiness starts, and often ends in ugliness.
