More of a lecture than a speech, Ms. Ablonczy told her audience that Prince Edward Island has “red soil” and that Ontario is a province “quite a bit east of here.”
Duh.
“She offered examples of the different bodies of land that would fit into Ontario, including telling the audience they could fit four Great Britains into Ontario,” said The Globe's travel editor, Sarah MacWhirter.
Ms. Ablonczy also spoke about the motorhome trip she took with her husband. They went from Calgary to Yellowknife.
About Iqaluit, Nunavut, Ms. MacWhirter says that the minister told journalists she stood on the shore of Georgian Bay, calling it a soul-stirring experience.
Ms. MacWhirter said it was a “major embarrassment to journalists and tour operators here.”
