England fathers take time off to relax with their children

Like any fathers, the England players hold their children like they are the most precious things in the world.

Some might say it's a pity they don't seem to treat the ball in the same way.

Yesterday, the World Cup squad had some time off to spend with their families at their training camp in Baden-Baden.

And it was an opportunity for the fathers among them to show their tender side away from the tensions of the tournament.

The team struggled to a 2-0 win over Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday, but their progress to the second round is now guaranteed and the players looked relaxed.

The youngest members of the baby squad are John Terry's twins, Rose and Georgie John, born just four weeks ago.

The Chelsea captain gave Rose a gentle kiss on her tiny head after lifting her out of her pram. Terry, 25, dashed home from England's pre-World Cup training trip to Portugal last month when his 23-year-old fiancee Toni Poole went into labour early.

He had sprinted off the training pitch and caught the first available flight but arrived too late to see her give birth.

Another tiny tot is Frank Lampard's daughter Luna.

His 23-year-old Spanish fiancee Elen Rives - who had trouble on her way out to Germany because she had too much hand luggage - gave birth 10 months ago.

The midfielder took the baby with him as he strolled on the hotel terrace.

Captain David Beckham balanced his second oldest son Romeo, three, on his hip as he strolled around in the sunshine. But there was no sign of the 31-year-old's wife Victoria, seven-year-old Brooklyn and 14-month-old Cruz.

Jamie Carragher, 27, and his 25-year-old wife Nicola Hart spent time together with their daughter Mia. The couple, who were childhood sweethearts, married last year.

Goalkeeper Paul Robinson, 26, also had a family day out with his wife Rebecca Kinley and their daughter Lucy May.

Little Lucy, wearing a colourful summer dress, looks as though she may like to follow in her daddy's footsteps as she clutches a beach ball firmly in her hands.

Yeah, and what a bunch of pussy BRITISH soccer players do on their day off in GERMANY really has relevance to CKA.

If you hadn't noticed, Canada is not in the tournament.

We ALL agree that Canada Kicks Ass... but there simply isn't much to report about Canada on the Soccer board. But I too am pondering the relevance of this topic...
