So what about that Zidane? What the heck was he thinking with that headbutt? I don't know if the press and agents are right about the racial slur. Given the level of competition and the way footballers are, I have an easy time beleiving stuff like that goes on. Still, Zidane should have known better. Not exactly a high note upon which to finish one's career.

yeah I don't think we will ever truly know why he snapped the way he did but if it was some racial slur thrown at Zidane he just as easily could have ignored it and walked away and used that pent up energy to kick a goal during the shoot out. Instead he lost all professionalism and was red carded. What a way to go out in an otherwise outstanding career in footie.

I don't know. I was really upset about it yesterday, but now that I've had some time to absorb it, the whole thing really comes across as funny. Sure, not for Materazzi, but the amount of attention given to it is amusing. It's like people have never seen someone get drifted before. I'm not going to excuse Zidane, but this is starting to remind me of the Jackson nipple incident

Could be a number of hateful things. Zidane's heritage, his hairline, his career, his age, his wife, et cetera. I could imagine some very personal words could be said from a very devilish person.

It makes me wonder how 'professional" Zidane is when he pulls a complete bone-head move in extra time of the biggest game of his career!

He could have been a hero for France but instead looks like a selfish little brat with his actions.
