Don't sweat it. Play what you want to hear.

I've enjoyed your ambient stuff.

I'm tending to agree with NewfieBullet that metal doesn't go over well. Not because people don't like it but because its 'party' music and not something people may want to listen to while working/relaxing at the computer.

Don't expect many listeners regardless of what you play.

Iceowl,

I started out as a Dj for the same reasons you likely did - to play something people aren't normally exposed to by listening to the radio, etc. Unfortunately, it's pretty hard to get people to appreciate that when they just want some rock music while they're at the computer.

'i'th rule of entertainment: the bigger the crowd, the 'dumber' the crowd.

Are you sure you weren't expecting hordes of people to tune in? You played at poor times for me to tune in.

You can't expect people to plan their lives around when you DJ. Play your stuff and be happy if you even have one listener.

Take a look at the competition. There are 9230 shoutcast servers.....

It's not about my getting x number of listeners or not - I put work into putting together the few shows I did for the Jazz Lounge because people seemed interested in it. If people aren't specifically interested in it, or can't be here when I play, then someone else can DJ instead - I'm not here to impose my tastes on people.

Sorry if that sounded like a complaint - it's really not an issue for me. I've been able to have a few discussions about music with some members that share my tastes, and I'm as happy to get their recommendations as I am to give my own.

If you can give me a heads up as to what genre you'll be playing at 8 when my show starts, that'd be great... don't like jarring audiences with drastic and abrupt switches. :-P

IceOwl IceOwl:
I'm just playing whatever I want right now.. if you hate it, tell me what you want to hear. If I can find it, I'll play it. Nothing that's been played eleventy billion times on the radio, though, please.

I think you should keep playing what you play. Some of the stuff is new to me, but I'm liking it. R=UP

Y'know, IceOwl, my industrial collection isn't nearly what yours is, and rather than transitioning into another genre, shall I just do a few more songs and let you take it back over? Since you seem to be in the mood to spin tonight anyway...

Gonna sign off in about 15, I'll end with Some Velvet Morning, then it's all yours if you like.

I liked most of it except for the power outages.

Sorry about the most abrupt musical transition in the history of DJing, totally my fault!
