Adobe Systems Inc. (ADBE-Q28.00-2.42-7.96%) is halting development of its popular Flash Player for use in mobile browsers, essentially admitting defeat to rival Apple Inc. (AAPL-Q395.57-10.66-2.62%) in a long-running battle over web standards. The decision by the software maker, whose shares fell more than 11 per cent, means that web developers will probably stop using its Flash tools to produce video, websites and applications for delivery over mobile browsers.

That would be a relief for tens of millions of iPhone and iPad users whose browsers are not capable of viewing content built in Flash, but it could hurt sales of Adobe’s tools for developing websites.

Instead, Adobe said Wednesday it would focus on selling tools for website developers that use an emerging set of Internet standards known as HTML5, which Apple has long promoted.

I know, but the flash player is crashing, not chrome. Although, chrome crashes too sometimes, but that is not important here

On my own computers - both at work and at home - I've never had a blue screen. Never. Not once.

If you don't install sh*t from the net or cruise gambling sites or sheep porn (like the Scots do) you don't have to worry about your PC crashing.

+1 on that. XP, XP-64, Vista (32, 64), Win7; Home, Enterprise, Ultimate (32, 64), Server 2008 & R2. I've had very few - perhaps 10 - Blue Screens on them. Usually temporary ones caused by bad 3rd party stuff. That said - use FireFox. ;)

I'm not talking about blue screens, I am talking about Adobe Flash Player crashing. That has nothing to do with a blue screen, but with a plug-in crashing...

I use Vista 64 bit and have never had a problem. Even the systems before that never gave me a blue screen either.

Flash player is amazingly stable. More likely your issue has to do with a Java conflict and you can probably resolve it by doing an update of Java (which you should be able to do from your computer's Control Panel.)

Good riddance to that garbage. Flash has been a pain in the butt for too many years. Proprietary garbage has no place on an open Internet.

Sort of a misleading title though. The article only talks about ending Flash for mobile devices.

Java tells me when there is a new update, which I always install.
I run a not even year old Windows 7 on Chrome.
Or more, chrome on windows 7 LOL
