So I finallygot that damn 'System Fix' virus off my puter. THANKS to everyone who offered advice. [B-o] [B-o] However, I still have one minor problem. Now I can't get on line! My ISP checked out and I have service, I guess, since I can connect with this laptop. My PC won't connect to the net. What did I do wrong? What should I do to correct this? Do I really have to dl everything to a stick or discs and then reformat? Could I just do a reinstall/repair without fear of losing all my info. Once again, I need your help!

Network adapter drivers perhaps?

Does your PC connect wirelessly to a router or is it hardwired with an ethernet cable.

I am on satellite/wireless router. Once in a while I lose access to the net even though my computer says I have connection.

Thing is apparently I sometimes lose the signal because there is some sort of problem at the supplier end. When the signal is restored by the supplier I have to re-boot the router so it "sees" the returned signal.

This involves unplugging the router for 5 min. and then plugging it in again.

If this does not work I would call your service provider and explain your situation.

I would call your Service provider as a next move. I am not all that tech savvy and would be leering of messing something up big time.

Good luck. Let us know what happens.

In Windows go to your 'Computer' or 'My Computer' icon and right click on it and open Manage.

This starts the Computer Management console.

Now open the Device Manager and go to Network Adapters.

If any of those network adapters have a red X on them then right click on them and Enable them. If they have a yellow exclamation mark on them them right click and run the troubleshooter to maybe find out or repair the problem.

Good luck.

FINALLY back on-line with my PC! Thanks Bart. Your suggestion along with a reinstall has gotten me going again. Some things still very slow, and so far can't access my music files, but what I have already is a very welcome start. [B-o] [B-o] [B-o]

Your music/porn files are still there, they're just hidden. You may need someone with a bit of hands on expertise to unhide them for you.

So far, so good. I've got everything back except for my music/WMP. My speakers are working ok, but I can't access/find my music files as they appear to be 'hidden/moved/deleted'. The full list of my songs are still in the library. I have check-marked the 'show hidden files', and still cannot access them. [huh]
Also, is there some way to 'import' all my emails from my laptop onto my PC? Thanks
