I went on the FF support forums and was told to re-install .net Framework, but the installer keeps crashing midway through it. So I ran couple of scans to check for a virus and nothing.

All I get is this error;

Use Chrome?

Seriously, do you have a "Firefox Safe Mode" icon in your Start Menu? If that works, then usually you have to delete your Firefox profile, and the location of that varies with whatever version of Windows you have. If that doesn't work, then I'd look at things like .Net..

Never had this problem (never used Firefox), but if I were you I'd uninstall firefox completely, manually delete whatever firefox files the auto-uninstaller didn't get, run a registry cleaner program (I use CCleaner), then re-install.

I second Curtman though, Chrome is nice. Moved over to it a year or so ago and never looked back.

Chrome is fast and works alright, but is FF lite if you ask me.

It's definitely light years ahead of IE, which is why I am using Chrome right now instead, but I liked some of the FF features (one of the nicest is being able to save your tabs so that the next time you open FF, they all open), as well as it would be nice to be able to get my bookmarks (I can't seem to find the file in the FF folders).

In chrome, try right clicking on a tab and select "Pin Tab". The tabs you have "pinned" will open when you start chrome. You can install one of many "session saver" extensions too that save the tabs you have open for later..

FYI - the most recent versions of the Hiloti Trojan Horse exploit Firefox and can cause it to crash. Not saying you have it, but *NOW* is a good time to make sure your antivirus is up to date. :wink:

Did you reinstall .Net? The correct version of .Net? Try a Windows Update scan.

I tried using Windows Update and it didn't detect a need for .Net to be installed, so I tried installing it directly off the MS website and the installer crashed.

In that case something is hosed in your Windows install. Try a Restore or Repair.

Its MS trying to be crafty again, apprently they broke the new version of .netframework so it won't work properly on anything non MS i.e trying to force people to use explorer.

Its a know issue with FF4 and dunno why they don't fix it. I did the same thing and upgraded to ff4 and the .net install went crap. I just rebooted and FF4 works fine.

This is being discussed on the interwebz in many places, just google it.

Read the comments below to get an idea

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefo ... t/reviews/

Hope that helps
