$1:
Car dealerships are already set to sell vehicles with Google's Android Auto and Apple CarPlay within the next few months, according to a recent report in The New York Times.

Google welcomed car manufacturers to a recent event to show off Android Auto, its car dashboard system, the Times said. The forthcoming navigation, entertainment and communication system will compete with Apple's CarPlay system, which was introduced last year.

And Google hopes that app developers will be drawn to its in-dash systems, which link mobile devices running Android 5.0 or higher to its car tech.

Google is working with companies such as WhatsApp, Pandora and Spotify to create apps for Android Auto. Apple's CarPlay works with the iPhone 5 and newer models and supports Spotify, Beats Music and some of Apple's own mobile apps.

While Android Auto will follow the release of Apple's CarPlay, Google was first to show off a driverless car. However, tech enthusiasts are anticipating a car, possibly a self-driving car, from Apple as well.

In the last few years, Apple has hired around 200 people to help develop electric car technologies. Google expects to see self-driving cars on the road in two to five years, according to The Associated Press.

Nope. I avoided buying GMs with their 'Onstar' crap because they wouldn't tell me what they did with the data I was giving them. Not a chance I'd let Google or Apple in to my car. ;)

Besides, Blackberry dominates that market already. :)
