Maybe he should just scoot across the border to India and ask the HP call center to tell him which graphics cards they use in their systems.

The nvidia GTX 790. Now I know it hasn't been publicly released yet but I've got my hands on a preproduction sample that I will sell to you for a low low price of $4999.

I read that one will be over a grand. Two grand in Canuckistan. How much better can it be from a 690?

If one Overclocks, the 7850 is the best Price/Performance right now. That assumes Gaming and other things the OP hasn't mentioned though.

Disagree, a GTX 670 is a better buy.

Nope. 7850 is far cheaper and overclocks to higher levels of performance.

Yup put them in SLI and you'd be broke but have a great video experience for gaming.
Crap my old GTS 250 looks pretty antiquated when you put it next to the 690 GTX. Weird thing is that the 250 can run BF3 on medium graphics with a FPS around 40 to 60 whereas some of the newer cards are having problems getting to that, go figure.
