Scape Scape:
Who is right or wrong won't matter it will be who has the deepest pockets and Apple has the warchest to go nuclear as Steve wanted. The question is will they. All those patents Apple and Google have bought up are like nukes stockpiles that US and USSR had, mutually assured destruction but if one company thinks the other can corner the other out just by tying them up in the courts they will push the button. For them it is a business decision and I can see Apple going to war with Google because they know they will take a hit but they have the deeper pockets that will ultimately end up with the courts ruling in their favor. That's not fair, that's just how fucked up US patent law is but that what it is.
If we talk about only google, sure, but Google would be backed by Samsung, Sony, HTC, etc. By attacking Google, they'd be attacking all of these companies products as well. And they sure as shit won't stand for that.

$1:
As for cable not being an issue, google sank a ton of cash on hardware and they lost their shirts so don't say that ship has sailed because it hasn't. Google swung and missed, hard now it is Apples turn and I suspect they are on to something that will knock it out of the park just like Ipad did. People say that was a waste of time too when it came out and now hospitals and school have them everywhere. They own the tablet market because they knew to focus on the end user, not on the engineering. Faster and cheaper don't mean shit if no one uses it and they end up dumping product like the HP Touchpad.

The only difference is Google makes a good product but doesn't market the fuck out of it. Apple puts gimmicky crap, makes it shiny, and says they reinvented it, when the product has been available for years. People use it cause they're stupid.

It won't matter 5 years down the line.

I agree. With Jobs dead the board of directors will eventually bring in a classic Wall Street CEO who'll dismantle Apple and outsource all of the jobs to Turdistan and then gut the company by selling off one unit after another to direct more money to dividends.

Give it five years and Apple will be a target for takeover. It'd be delicious if Bill Gates bought it. :P

You shouldn't. Apple foundered under 'traditional' leadership because the company prospers only under dynamic and visionary leadership...none of which is produced in America's business schools anymore.

With Jobs gone the marginalization of Apple is inevitable.

The investment in the nuts and bolts of infrastructure means they will be built to last. They have a sound foundation and they have leadership that can keep it together. Although Jobs is gone Apple was not one man and it is a much different company then it was in 1987.

Hardly a flattering article (unless you're an Apple shareholder perhaps) - it makes Apple sound as ruthless as Wal-Mart.

You might want to go inspect Mr. Gates portfolio.

;).

His investment brokers will have him invested into anything that is profitable...and with his wealth, he is most likely a major Apple shareholder already.

Edit to add:
Wasn't there rumours of Billy buying up a huge chunk of Apple back in the 90's? Something about making Apple stronger to protect MS during the DoJ inquiries?

Have you seen professors try to use a computer? It's fucking pitiful. Also, yes. If they're using an iPad in those settings, they are stupid. Because there are far more powerful and usable products than the iPad.

Google may becomes another Yahoo as they already folded google labs and how many really have used Google+?

Where are you getting your information? Google labs is alive and well. And they don't charge developers $100 a year for access to the API's.

Explain the ubiquity Tricks. If Android had their shit together then why don't they have their devices being picked up by major institutions en masse? They are cheaper aren't they after all and have better hardware right? However, their track record on reliability and cross platform stability blows and everyone knows it. Why would anyone invest dollars on any one of these devices that won't even be supported 18 months later?

Because they're open source. A hospital and employ someone to write a program that will mesh with their entire system and put it on the tablets. Same for Universities. You can have seamless integration across faculties and professors if given the right program to do it. And you wouldn't have to pay apple to put something on your own device. You wouldn't need to jailbreak anything or have anything approved by some shit head in a shiny office.

Plus, as per the support. With how easy it is to put a custom rom on, and with the manufacturers themselves encouraging and even teaming up with cyanogendmod, that's no longer an issue.

However, there is a disturbing trend among the world to not use technology to it's fullest. Outside of places like CERN and NASA, people are content with mediocrity. Android is capable of far more if wished by the user, but that's what it comes down to, the user. And considering how ignorant 90% of people on this planet are when it comes to anything with a processor, it's no surprise they are buying the dumbed down crap apple produces.

Iphone ubiquity is because it is open sourced?

It has nothing to do with the stupidity of the masses, although it good to see your hate isn't truly at Apple and their products but at people at large I guess. It is the security android come up short on. That's why firms don't sign off on the Google phones on large scale and it is a major deterrent to major institutions that could be sued out of existence if they are party to unsecured software. They have as much of a free hand making their own custom software with support from Apple or Microsoft directly on the big ticket items, far more so then Google can. In fact Microsoft may be Apples bigger threat when it comes to providing software to large firms.

It is not people that are 'content' with sub-par phones, it is the providers who don't want to invest in R&D like AT&T. They are interested in paying subscribers not giving you free text messaging. To them you are a revenue stream and the only way around that is to bypass them outright. You can see that if Google, APPLE and Microsoft cut out the providers and gave access directly but that is a ways off yet.
