Bought a Sony VAIO in 2006 and am still using it right now. NEVER had one problem with it and it is well traveled and abused by my kids. May not be top of the line but IMO best value for ones money. Used to use a Toshiba at work too, in a dirty nasty environment for any laptop, and it pushed on just fine. Might consider a Toshiba too.

So much depends on personal preferences and the uses to which you'll put the machine.

Pick your price range, do your research, read the reviews. Try to avoid the temptation to pay for features that you won't use.

I take it your asking because your looking to buy?

This is the best deal I know about now.

14" Samsung with A10-4600M quad core (2.3 Ghz per core) processor w/ 6GB system memory @ 1600 and 750 GB HD.

For graphics, the laptop crossfires the on chip video (7670M) with a discrete card (7660G). 1 GB of dedicated graphics memory is provided.

Future Shop is selling this for $499.95. IMO it's a steal.
