Does anyone know how to transfer stuff off a Shaw PVR and onto another medium?

My brother taped some History TV's Doomsday Marathon on Sunday and I'd like to find a way to copy it so I don't have to drive all the way across the city if possible...

You can't. The USB is on there but it is dormant until they roll out a firmware upgrade. Expect that in like... never.

If you have a VCR or DVD recorder in the system you can play the show on PVR and copy it at the same time onto your other medium.

The last two posts are you're only real options, with Hyack's being the simpler and cheaper of the two. Can pick up a DVD recorder for cheap these days. Then just video/sound out from the PVR to video/sound in on the DVD recorder. Won't be the best quality ever, but you will have the shows backed up.

Saved a few shows this way.

you might want to try placing the harddrive in a computer, while maintaining another drive as your primary boot drive.

maybe....maybe. you can read the files without hacking a single thing.

you want something easier? just watch it on the PVR, it was intended for playback.

The Bell PVR USB is active, I attached an external hard disk to it. Don't know about the Shaw unit

If I had a PVR, I would, But I don't so I asked my my brother (who does) to record a couple of shows. It doesn't matter any longer anyways, I found two of the three shows with Bit Torrent, so I don't have to.

I wish I had bought that LG PVR back in 2005, then this wouldn't be an issue...hindsight is 20/20 and all that I guess.
