Anyone not backing up a 600GB media collection to a cheap external drive is missing something.
What's the difference between an internal hard drive and an external one?
I'll give you a hint: there isn't any.
The external drive sits in my fireproof gun safe and it will be there in the event of burglary, fire, or flood. Your 2nd hard drive will be gone.
You could store all of the components of a computer in a safe as well, if you wanted to. Or you could just take out the hard drive and put it in a safe. The only difference between internal and external is the case you put it into, which has no significance on either one's ability to store data or be safely locked away.

You're a fool if you're paying for a filing company to store your downloaded videos. The only thing stupider would be to pay for data recovery on the same sort of data.
