last night as i was wondering around trying to digest the turkey, i stepped into the local electronics shop and lo and behold in the sales bin were copies of battlefield Bad Company 2. I picked up a copy and took it home to install. After hours of downloading updates to enable me to play , I went to start the game. Everything went fine until I came to the main screen. I couldn't get my mouse icon to click on anything.menus would open, if i was hovering on some other part of the creen for some things but others, no matter where i dragged the mouse, I couldn't access the menus. I use a logitech track ball. I've tried reinstalling it and that doesn't seem to work very well either. I have all the bells and whistles on the computer to handle the graphics at max. So I'm wondering if it's the mouse, or is it just the shitty software....the game is a legal copy(and not Asian copy right...it's a copy, right?), as far as anything is here.

Does it work outside the game, on desktop/other games.

yes...no trouble with anything else...just can't seem get the drop down menus to open when it's hovering over them. You have click elsewhere on the screen to get somethings to open..others, nada

Only thing I can really think of is you having like a 64bit PC and the game being a 32bit. Some people have some issues with that, idk why. Are you playing it on a laptop?

No, I'm playing it on my PC, which has Windows 7 (64 bit)

I'd say the pirates jumped the gun on this one. They just stopped the Beta today and one of the major issues was the lack of mouse binding which EA said they'd address before the final release on the 25th.

So if you want to play the game with the mouse being useable, i'd suggest waiting till the final release and buying the EA version vice the Tiawanese version or at least waiting till the software pirates in your neck of the woods get their shit together.

it's an EA game...not a pirated copy. registered and such and it's battlefield Bad Company 2, not 3 which isn't available here until the end of the month. I don't play many games, so i buy the real ones and not the pirated versions.

Sorry thought it was 3 and couldn't figure out how they got it out before EA.

Found the trouble. Went into the settings and found that the DirectX was set to auto. I tried setting it to 10 and 11 both, but still had the same problem. When i set it to 9 all the trouble went away.
