Right? Has this always been happening, or did someone have a clearance sale on weather balloons?

Perhaps it would explain all those claims of seeing UFO's that people have been claiming for many years now.

Strutz Strutz:
So far I haven't seen a response from China over these recent 2 "objects" yet they sure responded to the first one being taken out.

China claims multiple U.S. balloons have flown in its airspace over past year

There is your response, in the form of 'whataboutery'.

They could be, but without context we don't know if the overflights are in compliance with treaties. If it's civilian in nature, and permission was asked first, then weather balloons are perfectly legit. But they don't indicate that.

A solar paneled drones could take these balloons out and provide over watch on the cheap.

Russian bomber intercepted near Alaska as search continues for downed 'objects'
$1:
Air-traffic watchers were first alerted to another potential incident late Monday when they noticed a Canadian Armed Forces refuelling aircraft heading northwest from Cold Lake, Alta., using a call sign associated with airborne intercepts.

The CC-150 Polaris refuelling aircraft, whose flight path from Cold Lake can be tracked on open-source websites, returned home in the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday morning. The Air Force said CF-18s were also deployed alongside American aircraft.

In a statement released hours later, Norad revealed that it had intercepted a group of Russian aircraft comprised of Tu-95 long-range bombers and Su-35 fighter aircraft as they approached Alaskan airspace.

“Russian aircraft remained in international airspace and did not enter American or Canadian sovereign airspace,” Norad said. “This Russian activity and is not seen as a threat, nor is the activity seen as provocative.”

So we made up a headline that implied otherwise...

Pretty much. There's this heightened awareness thing going on about anything that seems abnormal in the skies now.
