bootlegga bootlegga:
Just watched the 11 pm update - Atlantic is planning on delivering the stuff tomorrow for only DOUBLE what they quoted her.

Gee, that's big of them. Hopefully this story destroys their business altogether. What they should have done was pay for her full move on their own dime, then fired the sub-contractor and taken them to court for damages.

Ontario law, where Atlantic is based, prohibits a moving company from charging a customer more than 10 per cent above the contracted amount unless the customer agrees in writing.

It's not just moving companies. Ontario law prohibits ANY business from charging more than 10% above the estimated/contracted cost, without agreement in writing from the customer.
. That's where they get you...they know that on your moving day you don't have time to read page after page of densely worded fine print so they just speed you through it and you miss the added billing " just sign here, here, and here and you're all set!"

Or even if you do catch it they know most people can't do anything about it on their moving day. You usually have to book a mover weeks in advance and most people don't have that luxury. Or your stuff is already on the truck and held hostage until you sign it

Someone should hire them to make a dump run. Have them come clean out the house and take it away. When they try to ding you for the up-charge, just tell them no....take it to the dump.

Nope. Just a'visit' to the office of the guys holding the posessions. Actually all she needs to do is call them, agree to their extortion demands & then Have 'the right people' waiting when the van shows up.
