While in Taiwan we were able to enjoy several different types of locally grown bananas. One of my favourites for sweetness and flavour was one of the smaller varieties, just a tad longer than your thumb and about slightly plumper than a smokie.

I know I have posted this before, but it's too much fun to not post again. And Shep, we should all call on Ray Comfort to pray to God to give us a new type of banana, with all the "comforts" included

Meh....green, the wife likes them, yellow I like 'em, black....just right for banana bread.

The wife is a little odd. She's the only person I know who doesn't like it.

Mrs. Bart makes an awesome banana bread! I sometimes set aside bananas to ripen to black just so she'll make some!

When it's fresh out of the oven and with some fresh, unsalted butter...wow.

I always throw in some walnuts or pecans . There are some weirdos that toss chocolate chips into it.
This is the recipe I usually follow. I've substituted Greek yogurt or vanilla flavoured greek for the sour cream....all works out good.

It's both. Blights happen, and it's not the first time for bananas to be wiped out. When you have monoculture crops, one blight affects them all.
