@Gunnair,
Justiced served indeed! WTF is wrong with our justice system? This guy is partly responsible for tramatizing dozens, if not hundreds of children, and he gets to walk free? He should be locked away for the rest of his days.

To begin with, we don't have a system of justice, we have a system of laws. What is just is not always legal and too often laws aren't always just. Laws are what keep the lawyers and judges in business, as you don't need to have a law degree to understand the interpretation and dispensation of justice.

All he did was diddle some kids and read porn about torturing and raping them. This government has decided what's more important as far as justice goes.

Every time I see one of your amazingly dumb posts, you manage to surprise me with one that transcends the idiocy of your previous one. The government is at fault... really? Would it be the Trudeau government you'rreferringng to that brought in the Charter which has led to some of the limp wristesentenceses or are you suggesting that the PMO stepped in and evil Harper is a supporter of kiddy diddlers? God you're an idiot.

I think you guys are missing the Sarcasm in Curts' post I got the sarcasm, I also got that this was another one of his examples of drive by political hackery. As if there was anything political about this decision.

I agree that Curt is 'taking a political shot', but in this case I agree whole-heartedly with him. It not only seems to be, but actually is fact that 'the Feds' both past and present,(all parties) have/are wasting an incredible amount of resources futiley trying to suppress weed, all the while allowing alcohol use/abuse/misuse to continue, and continually only giving kiddee-diddlers a slap on the wrist!

Quote: He was sentenced Wednesday to 15 months in prison and two years probation but received a two-for-one credit for time served. A 15 month sentence??? And only served half??? Wow, that'll show kiddy diddlers and child porn viewers not to mess with Canadian justice I'm surprised the judge didn't apologize to him for the inconvenience.

Just saying... he was not accused of diddling any kids but of possessing child pornography. I'm not saying this isn't bad, it is, because if there wasn't any demand, there wouldn't be any supply.
This is like illegal drugs, doesn't do any good going after the suppliers because as long as people are willing to buy, there will ALWAYS be people willing to produce and sell.

I think you meant "doesn't do any good going after the users?" Or what are you saying? I differentiate between writing and drawings on the one hand, where actual kids were not harmed, and the photos the Bishop was looking at. Seems to me buying that latter stuff you're contributing to harming those kids just as much as the person who made the porn. And the analogy to drugs breaks down. Drug users only harm themselves (directly). Users of child porn are involved in harming kids by the very use of their addiction. I don't particularly care how much time the Bishop spends in jail, but I want a monitoring system in place that prevents him from ever accessing child porn again. And I would hope he's no Bishop no more, or has any other role in the church.
