You may cut out the middleman but how long will it be till they move down to the local level and demand or just take their cut?

That's not how it works. The brokers are likely in some place like New York, and they pay people, who pay people, who send people to distribute aid.

Ah, that is how it works. The distribution of money in these third world countries has zero to do with some New York wonk and everything to do with the Gov't of the day and the local warlord taking the money earmarked for the people for themselves.

So, New York can send anyone they want to distribute this money to the poor because if they don't go with an well armed contingent willing to shoot it out with the corrupt gov't authorities............... it ain't getting to the people.

That's why aid doesn't go to countries in that state. But when aid does get sent, there are always intermediaries. The guys in New York hire some gun in Berlin, who contracts out to someone in Nairobi. They get grain from Australia or South Africa, hire trucks out of some other country to deliver it . . . people that don't actually help the problem, but take their cut anyhow.

And like the article I quoted said, cash is always more efficient because it skips these levels.

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
But, that still doesn't explain why the money earmarked for our local natives isn't getting to them or the fact that the Federal Gov't doesn't seem to be to concerned about it especially given this new policy of wealth redistribution of theirs is a sure fire winner.

Why do you keep asking me? [huh]
