God...the logic here is lacking.
If its a draft, then I support keeping them there.
But the United States Armed Forces/Navy/Airforce is ***VOLUNTEER***, if they sign up, and then don't want to serve, I have no sympathy, that was the risk they took by signing up.
They are employees of the federal government who carry out the government-of-the-day's foreign agenda.
I support the Tories and the deportation of these people.

Iraq has been a disaster. Glass was lied to and refuses to be Dubya's chump.
By all means he should be allowed to stay in Canada.

By all means he should be allowed to stay in Canada. Blah blah blah blah. The fact is that they're running away from the job they VOLUNTEERED to do. Volunteer, as in...they chose to be soldiers. Like, they chose to go through bootcamp, training, and getting paid for such situations like a war. Ohhh, but they won't fight in the war, because they're pansies who wanted a free ride. You can call Iraq the Seventh Layer of Hell, or whatever, that changes nothing. You can even say Bush lied, and it doesn't matter.

At any rate ethics trump some bogus military code of "honour".

Military code of honour. You wouldn't ever know what that means Streaker. I feel sorry for you. He's AWOL, prosecute him and send him to Gitmo to live with the Terrorists. He might change his mind then too. Ethics have nothing to do with the law. The law is the standard, he broke it and we have a treaty with the US to send their criminals back to them and they to us. Enforce it!

Enforce it! Ethics trump the law, too. If the guy doesn't want to be part of an immoral enterprise, then he's in the right by refusing to go. I know that this kind of stuff doesn't go over well with soldiers for obvious reasons, but civilians - thank God - don't have to worry too much about the dumber aspects of military culture: That band of brothers stuff isn't our problem and has no bearing on ethical matters. Three Canadian parties representing an overwhelming majority of Canadians are aware of this.
