Once again another slap in the face for our military from the sock wearing puppet.

Anybody remember this?

$1:
We will not buy the F-35 stealth fighter-bomber.

We will immediately launch an open and transparent competition to replace the CF-18 fighter aircraft. The primary mission of our fighter aircraft should remain the defence of North America, not stealth first-strike capability.

We will reduce the procurement budget for replacing the CF-18s, and will instead purchase one of the many, lower-priced options that better match Canadas defence needs.

http://www.liberal.ca/realchange/f-35/

So he's replaced the CF18's with cheaper CF18's and his definition of immediately is 16 years after the fact.

By the time those planes are finally replaced the original CF-18 pilots and ground crew will either all be in nursing homes or have passed away. And by that time too maybe the F-35 won't be the biggest boondoggle of a fighter plane ever manufactured. Here's hoping the spare carcasses we're getting from the Aussies are up to another fourteen years of punishing service.

I hate to bring this up again but if Canada is not going to go to a fifth generation fighter because you just want to defend your own shores (and abdicate your role in NATO) then you need to consider buying something more suited to that mission as opposed to facing the increasingly expensive costs of maintaining aircraft that are already overdue for retirement.

Seriously, this is your plane and you can buy it ready to fly or else go with a Canadian version and clusterfuck it with Canadian content requirements like you folks do with all the rest of your procurements.

Nah. We'll continue with the same old decades-entrenched procurement system that's made legions of defense industry lobbyists, salesmen, and defense ministers rich on the taxpayer dime. Who says Canada's a socialist state anyway? When it comes to defense buying we're one of the most awesome examples of crony capitalism on the planet.

Funny how you take such a strong stance and call Canada socialist on this issue, but the persecution of citizens is ok by you.

As have been asked of me, "are you a traitor?"

Hope.

You must be kidding.

Next on Aussie barn finds, Canadian tourists find an F18, upside down,
with only 500 miles on the clock.

"Crickey mate, we'll wash the roo shit and dingo dust off her,
and she'll be right as rain."

The Aussies have been using their planes as we have.
This has more British subs written all over it.

Thanks, Justine, just as stupid as uncle Jean.

At least the British subs were compatible with Canadian tug boats.

The Canadian tax-payer does not need American garbage nor does he need American bullshit con-job maintenance contracts.

Canuckletards should not trust foreigners who tell them what garbage to buy from the psychopath industrial complex.

As Thanos said in a similar thread the F16 would be more than enough for Canada's needs so if that's true PMJT needs to jump on it ASAP! F**k this competition BS just get the jets.

An F-16C/D package comes with a completely reasonable cost today of around $25 million US (adjusted from 1998 dollars and dependent of which weapon bundle is selected). Just to prove how exceptional Canada is at military procurement let's put in a bid on some with the price jacked up all the way to $50 million each. C'mon Canada, we can do it!
