You mean I can't get a degree in Art History and make 100k per year coming out of school?

It's all the fault of the 1%

These expectations have nothing to do with reality.

Crazy how pretty much none of the responses really have much to do with the actual article.

What's crazy is that all of those comments substantiate the article.

I'm embarrassed for my generation. Even I don't have those asinine expectations for when I graduate.

This is just more evidence you don't have to be all that smart to be in University.

I can hardly wait till reality smacks them right up the side of that pointy little head of theirs and they discover the Secondary Education makes you rich Myth isn't just a myth but in most cases a blatent lie.

A university education is not a guaranteed ticket to prosperity. I know folks who went to work straight out of high school who make twice as much money (or more) as someone with a post secondary education.

When I got out of college five years ago I was working for peanuts in a dead end job, barely made enough money to support myself living alone. Today I have a home, family, and more than enough income to support a wife and child. Five years from now I aim to do even better.

A piece of paper issued by the "university" isn't a replacement for hard work.

No one is going to give you a living. You have to earn it. That's something the guidance counselors need to be drilling into kids, not telling them that a General Arts degree is going to open all kinds of doors and make them wealthy and/or successful.

Kids are taught to have unealistic expectations in school. Instead of telling them that they can be anything they want to be, tell them to be the best that they can be. Realize their potential....for some that's pumping gas or pouring coffee. To function smoothly society needs its deltas and gammas.

But some would have you believe that deltas and gammas deserve a similar rate of pay. Everyone is equal.

Only an idiot, slacker or a communist would believe that a gas jockey deserves an equal share of rewards.

Who's been saying they deserve a similiar rate of pay? I've seen plenty of people say that they should be able to live a decent life, but no one afaik has said the a gas jockey derves the same pay as a CEO.
