They're going to need either a war or a plague to correct that.

Their equivalent of the US War College has a plan that got leaked a couple years back where China would get into a major ground war on the border with India and send in large armies of conscripted ground forces without air cover, artillery, or armor and then let the Indians slaughter them.

Meaning that they'd considered this idea. Right now I don't think their economic forecasts can support the idea because such a war would mean China's trade would grind to a halt and it also would mean that the nations around the South China Sea would likely align with India and then China would be fighting a two-front war and their military model can't manage that.

HONG KONG, Oct. 30 (UPI) -- A top Chinese naval commander told his U.S. counterpart that Beijing would not tolerate "dangerous and provocative acts" after the guided-missile destroyer USS Lassen entered waters near areas of China's land reclamation in the South China Sea.

In a video conference call, Adm. Wu Shengli of the Chinese navy told Adm. John Richardson that Beijing is "deeply concerned," and that "such dangerous and provocative acts have threatened China's sovereignty and security and harmed regional peace and stability," state news agency Xinhua reported on Friday.

This is China saying they don't want us to do this again and the correct response is to immediately do it again.
