Who has time to pretend to be a reporter when there is all that crime out there anyhow.
Honestly being freelance would make more sence for him as far as balancing schdules.
BTW, one last nerd fact, technically this is only Superman issue like 14 or something since all DC comics rebooted from the start again. So in that respect he was likely not at the Planet for long.
