I've trained at this range in the past. It is needed to support the reserve units in the Hamilton area. If they close this range then we have no choice but to go to Borden or Meaford for ranges which are 3 hours away. THere is us, two infantry units and the guns.
This is a necessary tool for us to accomplish our training.

Even without knowing the particulars of this base and the area, I side with the Military here. They need the space too, and lots of it to do training. Let the residents build up, not out.

And the base itself isn't even very large. It is the proximity that is key for us. As reserve units we don't have unlimited time to conduct our training requirements each year. As a result this provides us with a close base that has everything we need including ranges, gas hut, and soon all the afghanistan related facilities. It's absolutely the ideal situation for us here.

Well, according to Google Maps, it sits right on the lakeshore. Still, it looks like Grimsby already has plenty of lakeshore. It sounds like the rich snobs who have boats at the marina next door want more space.
