Nope, just inexperienced cops (both sexes) driving extra powerful cars.

Like every job where you're on the road a good part of the day, you will have a lot of accidents - delivery cars or trucks, ambulances, taxis. Mostly though, are minor because, in large part, they happen in urban areas at lower speeds.

As to the other drivers not hearing sirens, I might have a suggestion. When the police or ambulance hit the siren, all car radios on the road at a certain distance broadcast it. I'll let the experts figure out how to do this.

But in many jurisdictions the cops can look at their computer and hold their cell phone and drive when both are illegal for the average Joe.

Generally the non-driving partner does the computering and the phoning.

Considering the number of cop cars out there, the amount of time they spend on the road in all weather conditions, and the kind of driving they often have to do... I'm not at all surprised that they get into a lot off accidents.

The problem being, 125 of the accidents so far were preventable (drivers fault) and they are the people who should be setting the example. I drive a lot too, and I've driven Crown Vics for 600k and 700k km without incident. Not a scratch.
