I heard that Dion wants to call it an oxygen tax, because there are 2 oxygen atoms in every CO2 molecule.

He says an oxygen tax would be twice as revenue neutral.

I think Harper should be careful with remarks like those. Sure it may drum up support in the west but many of the same conditions that we experienced back in the late 70's and early 80's are being felt again today. High prices at the pumps, a slumping economy in the east, an active and growing economy in the west .... a lot of similarities there.

I wouldn't be surprised if a plan like the NEP gained support with voters in Ontario or Quebec *pretends to cough will saying the word Kyoto*. While what he is saying is pretty close to the mark I don't think losing more support in Ontario or Quebec is overly smart at this point in time. He's better off just sticking with the "this is gonna cost every Canadian money" theme.
