Wouldn't you rather deal with tranquil prisoners?
Frankly, no. Why not turn prisons back into prisons? It’s supposed to be a punishment, not a time to “get away”.
People entering (visitors) should be subject to a full blown search, and less mobility for the inmates. Anyone caught in the drug trade learns to live full time in the cell without access to anyone but the guards. If a guard gets involved, move him in with the inmate.
I’ve had patients come out of short term detention with full blown addictions to various drugs they had no involvement with prior to going in.
We had that. Our prisons used to be virtual torture chambers. They did nothing except have an impact on the people administering the punishment. Thats why we evolved into our prison systems today.
Treat people like animals and they will become animals and who will suffer? The guards for one who far more then ever will need to be on their toes. What about if they escape?
Punishment is one aspect but the goal is still that the people come out able to function in society.
