I think they should be forced to give urine and blood samples on demand.

As one of the people that would be required to take that blood sample I can say that not only is it a dangerous option to continually allow inmates access to a bloody needle they can get easily but the cost associated with it would make our penal system even more expensive.

The urine option is only marginally better but still, if it is to be effective then proper collection procedures need to be in place and some poor guards will eventually be forced to watch inmates piss.

I bet the guards probably think that by looking the other way on things it makes their job so much easier. Wouldn't you rather deal with tranquil prisoners?

How do these drugs keep getting into the prisons in the first place?

Visitors bringing it in, maybe some guards on the take, there are various methods they smuggle it in.

Im just saying they should not have the right to refuse any logical request of a guard.

Its the prisoners that are sent back because they continue the habit they had while inside that would worry me.

One common method is "hooping" your drugs before you go in.

Frankly, no. Why not turn prisons back into prisons? It’s supposed to be a punishment, not a time to “get away”.

People entering (visitors) should be subject to a full blown search, and less mobility for the inmates. Anyone caught in the drug trade learns to live full time in the cell without access to anyone but the guards. If a guard gets involved, move him in with the inmate.

I’ve had patients come out of short term detention with full blown addictions to various drugs they had no involvement with prior to going in.

Ever try to get a test out of someone that didnt want to give it?

Remember you cant beat it out of them. Prison is the worst place to receive treatment, if that is what one wants. It has been long known that drugs are rampant on the inside, go in just a stoner, come out hooked to down.

Lubricated condoms make the best transport method

We had that. Our prisons used to be virtual torture chambers. They did nothing except have an impact on the people administering the punishment. Thats why we evolved into our prison systems today.

Treat people like animals and they will become animals and who will suffer? The guards for one who far more then ever will need to be on their toes. What about if they escape?

Punishment is one aspect but the goal is still that the people come out able to function in society.
