CTV's map is inaccurate.

According to the USGS map it was just south of the southern tip of Haida Gwaii. I'm just east of this area.

No tsunami expected fortunately.

No aftershocks that I've noticed yet.

I was surprised that it was under land - makes more sense where you say. CBC got it right.

A shaker. This is hard rock here on these islands.

The few that I felt when I lived in Richmond felt more like a shimmy. Like the ground was rolling.

Weird how very different the feeling was.

And Hyack... very funny

Hyack Hyack:

Yes. This is the page I referred to.

I've had this one bookmarked http://earthquaketrack.com/recent for a long time now and then go the USGS page from there

That's because most of Richmond is fill, not real ground on real bedrock.

Different ones actually do feel like that. Sometimes there's a side to side motion and others are an up and down shake. Last large one we had when we were overseas was one of the latter types. Think of standing on a rail crossing with a very large tractor trailer going across it. Not fun when you live in tall buildings.

Thank you Mr. Dog! [B-o]
I don't know much about tall buildings. 8)
