Basically any knife that would be used solely as a weapon to hurt people and not possibly for decoration or collection purposes is banned. I'm amazed my one friend got his machete past the border.

Close, more like a knife with a large hilt to protect the hand and embedded studs or spikes on it. You can see them at many pawn shops etc. No real purpose to them.
