I believe the licensed hunts require the game to be given to the locals as bush meat.

Can't imagine anyone letting so much meat go to waste.

I suspect that an elephant is going to feed some people for a great while or a whole bunch for a short while

In Namibia trophy hunters have been an important part of funding wildlife preserves and helping to preserve open space for the native San people.

If wildlife resources are managed properly and absent corruption then trophy hunters provide much needed revenues.

Using trophy hunters to take down problem animals generates revenue instead of relying on paid game wardens to do the job.
