You must keep in mind that 'African Americans' once insisted they be called 'negro' then it was 'black' now it's what they're called - they seem to be confused, at least until Oprah decides what's next - interestingly, they abhor 'negro' - yet still continue to support the United Negro College.
I once had an Oriental girl work for me - she was 26, had an MBA from China - and said to me one day during a drive (I let her drive to the mtg but not on the way back - totally hair raising and frightening too) that they (Orientals) think all 'white' people look alike - I'd never considered anyone else's perspective re us white folk and was astounded that 'we' might be regarded as such.
So, it's not just us white people - it's other hoi polloi too. . . .

Secondly, the key difference here is that an Asian didn't go on a radio station and say that all white people look the same, now did they? No, it was a white guy who said it about black people. Just because someone else might be a racsit does not excuse the same behaviour from another person. Racism is racism period.

Quote: I'll agree that it's funny, but funny in that the people who have no problems making bigoted comments about others (blacks, Quebecers) are getting a taste of their own medicine.
Yes, a taste of their own medicine. Yes, Asians don't make racist comments. Right. Only blacks and Quebecers.

I actually watched the Bye Bye and I have to say that some of the jokes were terrible. I don't think that they were trying to be racist, they were trying to push the envelope. Unfortunately, they did come off as being racist. It's too bad because theyre was a lot of really funny stuff that was overshadowed, like Véronique Cloutier imitating Julie Couillard to a tee. Very funny!
Unfortunately, it's a sport to criticize the Bye Bye every year. That's why many people don't want to do it anymore. Too much pressure to make the best show ever. Kind of like the pressure to have the time of your life on New Years Eve (ain't gonna happen.
