If Shrek was a "squinty-eyed Chinaman" cartoon saying things like "Me wash-a da laundry, round eye" or a black cartoon with lines like "Can I shine your shoe, bro?" would that be offensive? Of course it would. So why are black jokes racist, but Scottish ones aren't? The answer is we Scots have a sense of humour and can take a joke about our sterotypes. Maybe if other groups could relax and take a joke we wouldn't need to go yelling "racism" all the time. Yes we Scots do have a sense of humour and we don't tend to bitch if someone pokes fun... at least not all of us... MacDonalds don't! Sheep shagging, cattle stealing brigands Only when we have to deal with blethering, stub faced, beetle browed Campbells...

Yes, we Scots do so, which is exactly what I said, but if I make a "nigger" joke, it isn't any less racist just because some black folks either don't hear it or aren't bothered by it. Huh. You believe a 'nigger' joke and Mike Myers faint Scots accent are comparable? Wow, did you set your alarm clock? Because you need to wake the fuck up.

RUEZ wrote: You're trying to compare someone mimicking an accent to someone demeaning another person because of their colour. Not much of a comparison. So, it's less offensive to make fun of someone's language than their skin colour? Is it less offensive to call someone a "fag" than a "nigger" because it's a different sort of sterotype? The only difference is that Scots are not typically considered to be a disadvantaged and oppressed group, so they're fair game, while it's a no-no to make 'nigger' and 'jew' jokes because they've been picked on more in history. Before pay-equity laws, people used to say things like "Women deserve less pay for the same work, or blacks deserve less pay for the same work because they need less to live on". Your assertion that "accent-mimicing" is less offensive than any other sort of stereotype-based ridicule is a total double standard. It's either offensive to make fun of someone for the group they belong to or it isn't. Scot or Black or Newfie or retard or homosexual...it's all the same.

Why is it okay to make fun of Scots based on the peculiarities of their culture but racist to do the same to other groups?

Sorry man, imitating an accent is not rediculing it. Your comparison is nonsense. Even if it was mocking someones accent it's still not comparable to insulting someone because of their colour. Do you think teasing someone with a lisp is also racist?

No, because a lisp is not an aspiration defect specific to a racial group. A Scottish accent is.

I thought that was purpose of MacDonald women....seeing as MacDonald men use livestock for reproductive and romantic purposes.

Are you saying that a lisp IS specific to certain racial group? Or, are you saying that a Scottish accent isn't specific to certain racicial group (Scots)?

Assuming you are talking about caucasions, they have many accents.

Are you calling a Scottish accent a defect?
