Yes, but it dilutes itself through the generations.
And the school system, and media, today, promote a tolerant, diverse, equal society, and most youth support that type of society, even going against their parents.

Lucky for the good people of Cali this will be short lived. The stupid judges don't know California law and this will be done with next election.

Part of the reason that there's a growing tolerance for gays is, ironically, thanks to the religious right. The whack-jobs have done such a terrific job of disgracing their own religion with their unrelenting hatred that they actually made tolerance of gays more popular among people who don't subscribe to mass killings of deviants in the name of God. Who ever would have thunk that the maniac behaviour of so many so-called Christians would have created such a 180-degree turn in public acceptance of those that the religious were so desperate to get everyone else to hate.
Sorry, Westboro Baptist et al, but your time is growing shorter by the day.

The California State Supreme Court isn't 'liberal', and has made more conservative decisions over the last few years, and if you didn't notice it was a 4-3 decision, so I don't see how this is a court "stacked with liberals" and interpreting the constitution as such.
b) I'm pretty damn sure most constitutions have phrases "pursuit of happiness", "equality of all people under the law", how is equality regardless of sexual orientation not a right?
Damn...I can't wait for in 20 years when the baby boomer generation is gone, and this issue can be dead and our society can finally progress. completely respecting your POV West this is progression

Yep...it is quite a paradox...it's the religious right who is making acceptance of gays more common and popular, as more and more people rebel against the radicals who want "kill the deviants" and all that jazz (I think there is a southern GOP Senator who supports capital punishment for gays and lesbians...it's out there), and are pushing the progression of society.
If the religious right acted more like the Catholics, and quietly denounced it, without publically condemning it (like the evangelicals) the gay rights movement would be decades behind in my opinion.

I'm so proud that Canada has gay marriage, but it just fills me with emotion when more jurisdiction adds it.
I hope and pray the November Proposition vote on a constitutional amendment is defeated outright.
2 states down, 48 to go. well you can thank the Liberals for that. it wouldnt exist under the Harper autocracy

What happen to Sunday dinner and the whole family sitting down together, the mother, father and children, or Sunday dinner in the living room with a good Walt Disney program. Then again, I like the 50's style family and erra and wish time could be turned back to a more humble time. (and less population on earth) Look at great actors such as Randolph Scott and Rock Hudson, they didn't find a need to flaut their sexuality, and it was nobody's business what they did in their bedroom, or with whom. fuck well I could rip a strip off you.. I know many gay and lesbian couples who are excellent parent, some with large incomes, some who have a stay at home parents.. You are some rednecked, racist homophobic son of or are a bitch who lives in a utopian, victorian retro life.. you steriotype and judge people by generalizing about who they are and what they do. You make me puke.. You talk about actors who spent their lives in the miserable closet... what makes you feel you have the right to call people queers.. fact is there are many people both heterosexual and gay who because of work, career and time constraints cant sit at the "sunday dinner table" but provide a healthy, happy home for (in some cases") children who would have a brutal life otherwise.. I suggest you attend some PFLAG meetings and meet some of these so called "Queers" ... you might just have a different perspective about life in general... and PS do some research the so called iconic family shows.. you might be surprized

Coming from Mr. divorce himself. Nice. Yes, but I was raised in a home where my father worked, my mother was a stay and home mom, 2 sisters and myself. upper "upper" middle class lifestyle. Yes, I'm divorced twice, no kids not by choice, but because I was unlucky and had the mumps at a young age, in short shooting blanks. But when I see a family, at times I am sad that I couldn't have the same. My divorces do not negate my feelings as to what I precieve as the perfect family unit is or should be. upper upper class ya right... anyway I think 2 divorces hardly qualifies you as a good judge of character or what constitutes a wholesome family... jeeze.. get a life and try to keep it together.. glad you didnt have kids can you imagine how they would be right now? two broken homes.. sad .. sad.. sad

You should get a life.

His kids would likely being doing just fine. Coming from a broken home has little to do with the outcome of a child. Marriages break down for a variety of reasons what makes you judge and jury?

guys guys
from another POV
LOVE do we have the right to take away a privilege from people who may want to spend a lifetime with romantic LOVE ???
did you notice i didn't say SEX ???
OK Heterosexuals think about the sweeping vistas of a soulmated delightful romantic LOVE
forget about same SEX
concentrate on the LOVE...the hearts and flowers...head in the clouds...shy blushing...fingers gentling reaching...breath holding....silly laughing kind of LOVE
do we understand it....of course we all have been there if we're over 16
'cause gay people fall in LOVE like this too
do we want to go back to Blacks and Whites can't fall in LOVE Asians and Whites can't fall in LOVE
why throw cross species relationship into this (samesexed dogs and cats in can't fall in LOVE)J/K and all the other bullsh*t that this thread is throwing around
on the first day that samesexed marriage was here yesterday two women who had LOVED each other for 53 years got married
NOW THAT WASN'T FOR SEX PEEPS !!!!!!!!!!!
now that's a romantic landmark in my eyes !!!

But here goes.. the fact is from your comments anyone can see that you are a fucking loser who has all the qualities of a low life,,no matter what your upbringing was.. I use the term upbringing loosely. I have a brother who is gay and is marrying his partner of 12 yrs in August. We are all very proud of him. He and his partner both have 6 figure incomes and I am sure should they decide to adopt and give a child a excellent family home they will. So go to the beer store and get another 24 and enjoy the soaps..I love Lucy reruns and leave it to beaver are on at 7 and you might want to check out divorce court at 9... LOSER!
