It's not a bail out... It's a loan!!!!
I would say allow the free market to decide if this a free for all among North American companies like it was in the 1950's & '60's when we had Packard, Hudson, Crosley, Studebaker, Nash, Kaiser, Willys, etc...
BUT if we allow the Big Three to fail then we are giving up our industries to foreign companies...
Toyota, Nissan, BMW, etc will be faced with this same situation when China starts cranking out cars...
Do we really want to continue down the path of loosing jobs to nations who pay less and have a lower standard of living? Would you be willing to lower your salary or standard of living to keep jobs in NA? Or do we ask the government to intervene?
Or are you pleased with EDS, Microsoft and other companies outsourcing to India, China, etc...???
It's a loan that will be used to prop up it's offshore manufacturing plants.
Toyota Nissan..etc are better equipped to handle competition from China, GM has proven they are incapable even though they already manufacture around the world including China.
