AND how does a classic Datsun 24Z or Datsun 510 go for? Your name & avatar is not only based upon a Lost character but your mindset is lost somewhere in space...

I'll fire up Photoshop and create a new avatar that is more reflective of your present mental state....

I wonder what a late sixties Toyota 2000GT goes for?

All rhetorical niceties aside, Japanese cars from forty years ago weren't all that good, but that has obviously changed.

The real question is which cars will be collectable forty years from now, when the people in the classic car market won't have any prejudices against asian cars?

Every time I see one of those punks wearing the backward facing ball cap, listening to rap, hip-hop or whatever they call that crap behind the wheel of a slammed down, wheel rim spnnered, rice rocket with those fart piped exhausts I wanna barf...

Give me a new Challenger, a Mustang GT or a Vette over one of those pimped out Civics or Corollas any day..... XD

Then reduce the argument to a simpler level: Do you buy cars made here by your cousin in Oshawa, or a goddam Kia made by a stranger in Korea or Taiwan? It's only gonna take things to slump a little more before the N American Japanese factories will be threatened too.
No one's talking about the shit from overseas with Chevy stickers plastered on them either. We should be making sure none of the bailout money goes towards that either.

My Corolla was built in Canada.

Those Toyota GT200's are the exception and not the rule.... Although I must admit they were cool as were the early Datsun 240Z's...

But that my friend is the difference between Toyota, Honda, Nissan, etc and GM, Ford & Mopar.... The Big Three build cars that appeal to auto enthusiasts, people who love cars and enjoy driving.... (Challenger, Viper, Corvette, Camaro, Mustang, Cobra, Ford GT,etc) and Toyota, Honda, Nissan, build appliances. Things people see as mere transportation. Perhaps these people would be better off riding the bus...

A person who buys a new Mustang or Challenger can probably turn a wrench, office secretaries, bored housewives and pencil necks buy Civics, Corollas, Camrys, etc...

With bulk of the profits going to Japan... Do you really think once the Big Three fail, Asian car companies will keep plants in NA?

Forty years ago this would have made some sense, but not anymore. The Japanese make any number of cars with plenty of performance and emotional appeal.

Forty years from now those cars will fetch just as much at auction as any American muscle.

Assuming that your argument is true, which I'm not sure it is, even your big three will send their profits to the US. Still out of Canada, so where's the difference? And it's better to send the profits to Japan and employ someone in Canada than send the profits to the US and employ someone in Mexico.

You've obviously never driven a 300Z or 350Z. Those are both rocket ships that can stop on a dime and give youe 5 cents change.

If you're going to compare 'sports cars', why are you talking about Camrys and Civics versus Mustangs and Camaros? At least compare apples to apples...

Then please post an article where a WIKI or internet source's reliability did stand up in a court of law.... Again it is so unreliable a judge would toss it out of court in a second....

Nice dodge...the point is instead of actually debating the issue, you are tossing out red herrings about the validity of Wikipedia.

Not only that, they can turn too. All the American muscle cars are great lumbering beasts that can accellerate like nobody's business but get lost at the first corner.

Good for General Motors, the less money they need to take from the government, the better.

Then tell me what car has been winning the production car class for the last 5 years at LeMans 24 hours, Daytona (Daytona endurance road race & NOT Daytona 500), Sebring... The Chevy Corvette has....

The production class Corvette is so far ahead of other cars in it's class it even comes close to beating the full race cars who race at the same time....

LeMans, Sebring, Daytona are kind of neat races as there are several classes all racing on the track at the same time... A few times a production class Corvette has finished ahead of the 2nd place full race car...

Besides most Japanese cars are front wheel drive and a rear wheel drive car out handles most front wheel drive..

There's a good reason why most performance cars (Ferrari, Viper, Lamboghini, Corvette, Porsche, Indy, NASCAR, F1, etc) are rear wheel drive... There another one of Hurley's brain farts exposed as a myth.... :D :D :D :D
