Wada Wada:
You cons steadfastly refuse to acknowledge that the opposition lost all confidence in Harper. Harper lost the confidence of the house. Steve Harper does not inspire confidence. Put in simple terms Steve's a fuckup who's time is over.

Yup. I'm at a loss as to what I hope happens though. Do I hope they keep him and run themselves into the ground, or replace him and retain power and credibility? I just don't know.

let the opposition parties vote against the budget next month. Then lets have an election, I think the voters will finally show they want a CPC majority. Primarily after this coalition BS.

ROTFL

How? Harper won't be getting any seats in Quebec anytime soon, given that his "separatists & socialists" comments were viewed very poorly there. So, let's see, no seats in the Maritimes, none in Quebec, none in the three biggest cities...just how can he get a majority?

I'm with Christinne Blatchford. Nothing wrong in principle from wanting to completely eliminate the competition. But in the words of that cheezball American celebrity psychologist whose name eludes me right now: "How's that workin' for ya?"

The coutnry is facing a dire economic crisis and little Stephen is in the back room more intent on scoring a few cheap political points. The fallout almost toppled his government adn forced the House to prorogue until January. He lost control and it will cost his party.

So though there may be nothing wrong, in principle, with a killer instinct in politics, it is not always the correct instinct to follow.

Harper had his chance to deal wiht this crisis. Instead he chose to ignore it, and pick a fight wiht the opposition and teh civil service, neither of whom particuarly wanted a fight. But Harper forced them into a corner--one of mnay of Harper's tactical errors in this situation--and they hit back and then Harper headed for the Hills, last heard sacreaming:

"RUN AWAY!!! RUN AWAY!!!"

I find it amusing that the Blunderals are accusing Harper of allegedly dividing the country by calling the Bloc what they are - "separatists" - yet the irony seems to completely escapes them that they entered into a formal agreement with the guys who want to break up the country.

I'm not accusiong Harper of "dividing the country." I'm saying his strategy will cost him votes in Quebec, and without Quebec he will not get a majority government. I think Harper is finished as an effective Conservative leader. But as a generally small-l liberal, I do hope teh Conservstives keep him on for some time to come.

You may be correct, given that the Tories natural Quebec constituency are the soft nationalists.

Quit spoiling their fun with facts.
These are people who wouldn't believe the sky is blue unless Harper or Bush said so first...

I suggest you start watching the news. His approval rating has only gone up since this BS. Even Iggy can't topple Harper.

Don't confuse Canadians' reticence over a coaltion government with approval for Harper. He made a serious strategic error resulting in galvanizing the opposition and suspending Parlimanet during the worst economic crisis in two generations or more. I imagine his own party would be irritated--at least they should be. It was a completely needless crisis.
