Looks to me like the puck picked up and incredible amount of spin when it hit the blocker and when it touched the ice directly in front of the net it acted like a spinning wheel hitting the pavement and took off in another direction.

But, it's after that when the puck changes direction. I'm going with Jedi Mind Trick.

The puck is nowhere near the skate when it changes direction... Here's the slow motion version. Look after the 6 second mark - it can't be his skates.



Must have been something there to deflect the puck (ice or a crack), but it's not his skates...

Rotation/spin on the puck meets chewed-up ice in the crease. Bizarre, yes, but Newton can rest in peace.

You're right. The puck changes direction before it gets to the goalies skate. But it clearly does hit 'something' underneath his leg, causing the change in direction. Perhaps his shinpad.

I'm with Yogi. It seems to hit the goalies shin. And, after that, it's initially not sliding on the ice but tumbling thru the air.

Most likely one here. We can't see the puck heading up or down, after it hits the pad (ala Yogi) it falls toward the ice spinning madly. Once it hits the ice, friction takes over.

But I'm not ruling out Jedi just yet.
