Homeland Security Is Disappearing American Citizens Off The Street

Don’t look now, but the Department of Homeland Security has apparently declared martial law in Portland, Oregon. For several days now, heavily armed federal troops without insignia or identification have been snatching American citizens off the streets and whisking them away in unmarked vans to prevent the dastardly crime of … graffiti. Literally.

For weeks, protesters demonstrating against police violence have scuffled with Oregon’s cops. They’ve also engaged in minor vandalism of federal property — mostly graffiti, a few smashed windows and damaged security cameras at the courthouse.

But with the president’s ratings in the tank and support for the Black Lives Matter movement rising, the Trump administration and Fox News have been blasting out dire warnings of dangerous cities where hapless Democratic mayors are held hostage by crowds of bloodthirsty anarchists.

“Far-left mayors are escalating the anti-cop crusade, and violent crime is spiraling in their cities. It’s all far-left cities where they have no understanding of what has to be done,” Trump said last week at a “Roundtable with Stakeholders Positively Impacted by Law Enforcement.”

Then he explicitly threatened to “take over” American cities using federal troops.

“Numbers are going to be coming down even if we have to go in and take over cities, because we can’t let that happen.”

And apparently he meant it, since Acting DHS Secretary Chad Wolf started gearing up to “take over” Portland shortly after. The pretext was “violent anarchists”, AKA racial justice protesters, with spray paint and laser pointers who “doxed” the heavily armed troops beating people exercising their First Amendment right to assemble.

“The city of Portland has been under siege for 47 straight days by a violent mob while local political leaders refuse to restore order to protect their city,” Wolf said yesterday. “Each night, lawless anarchists destroy and desecrate property, including the federal courthouse, and attack the brave law enforcement officers protecting it.”

Not sure how graffitiing Terry Schrunk Plaza counts as violent anarchy. But this right here seems to fit the bill pretty clearly.

Last Saturday, DHS put a protestor holding a BLM sign in critical care after firing a “less lethal round” at his head. Then on Wednesday at around 2 a.m., Wolf’s shock troops descended on the streets near the federal courthouse and started grabbing up protesters, including Mark Pettibone, who was thrown into the back of a van and blindfolded after agents pulled his beanie down over his face.

Oregon Public Broadcasting reports:
Blinded by his hat, in an unmarked minivan full of armed people dressed in camouflage and body armor who hadn’t identified themselves, Pettibone said he was driven around downtown before being unloaded inside a building. He wouldn’t learn until after his release that he had been inside the federal courthouse.

“It was basically a process of facing many walls and corners as they patted me down and took my picture and rummaged through my belongings,” Pettibone said. “One of them said, ‘This is a whole lot of nothing.’”

Pettibone said he was put into a cell. Soon after, two officers came in to read him his Miranda rights. They didn’t tell him why he was being arrested. He said they asked him if he wanted to waive his rights and answer some questions, but Pettibone declined and said he wanted a lawyer. The interview was terminated, and about 90 minutes later he was released. He said he did not receive any paperwork, citation or record of his arrest.

“I just happened to be wearing black on a sidewalk in downtown Portland at the time,” Pettibone said. “And that apparently is grounds for detaining me.”

nd if you saw that scenario on your CrimLaw exam, you’d probably call it an arrest. Nonetheless the U.S. Marshalls Services insists that, “All United States Marshals Service arrestees have public records of arrest documenting their charges. Our agency did not arrest or detain Mark James Pettibone.”

This is, not to put too fine a point on it, some Gestapo shit. Or as Oregon Governor Kate Brown described it, “political theater from President Trump [that] has nothing to do with public safety.”

And not content to keep the Blackshirts in Portland, the DHS says they'll be expanding the disappearances nationwide:

Quote:
When asked about calls for an investigation into DHS police tactics in Portland, Oregon, Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security Ken Cuccinelli tells NPR not only are they not going to stop but they want to take the tactics nationwide.

"Well, we are – we welcome – the more investigations, the better. With as much lawbreaking is going on, we’re seeking to prosecute as many people as are breaking the law as it relates to federal jurisdiction. That’s not always happening with respect to local jurisdiction and local offenses. But, you know, this is a posture we intend to continue not just in Portland but in any of the facilities that we’re responsible for around the country."

No wonder the usual Republican apologists have all but disappeared from CKA. Even they have a hard time defending trump and the nightmarish dictatorship that Republicans are busy creating.

Nice piece of mental masturbation. Know what the real problem is? Read this- https://quillette.com/2019/04/15/how-pr ... ase-study/

It's titled, "The Circular Firing Squad is Destroying the Left's Political Brand.
It's written by a progressive. Even though it's a Canadian case study, ALT-left garbage is ALT-left garbage no matter what country it's in.

To give you a synopsis. Moderate "progressives" aren't being differentiated from the extremists by their political opponents anymore because too many of them aren't willing to stand up to those extremists. Silence is acceptance. And that silent acceptance will "condemn" them as extremist sympathizers, at best.
Hell, I'm a Centrist and have been for over 30 years and I'm sick of the progressives, or at least every single one of them that doesn't have the goddam balls to speak out against the small extremist minority amongst them.
And if you are one of those moderate progressives who doesn't speak up, the extremists you sympathize with WILL eventually turn on you too for not strictly conforming to their very specific, narrow-minded POV.

If you're going to associate with anarchists, Marxists, nazis or any extremist group right or left, you're gonna carry the stink on yourself too. Don't go whining to the media when you get burned for it because nobody other than the extremist twats you're too chicken to speak out against will give a shit about it.

If the ALT-left are stupid enough to try and repeat history, well, ya get what ya get. I have just as much sympathy for them as I would for some twit who is otherwise fairly moderate but finds a tiny bit of intersectionality with neo-nazis and joins their marches, even if they were "peacefully" protesting/demonstrating.

As a bit of an aside, I had an interesting and long conversation with a card carrying communist a few weeks back. We started talking about social democracy and what it actually was. Well, it's certainly not communism, but it IS fascism. As he put it so succinctly, it's nothing more than "free shit for the West at the expense of the Third World". Mind you, he views capitalism much the same way except the shit isn't free.

Far be from me to interrupt the far-left circle jerk.

I'm just laughing my ass off at a bunch of bored, middle-class, and WHITE millennials are getting their just desserts after the myriad assaults they inflicted on others. Create lawlessness and authoritarian measures are going to fill the vacuum.

Whatever sympathy or agreement that was created in the wake of George Floyd's death is dissipating rapidly thanks to these moronic neo-hippies. They've gone too far and the backlash they've set in motion will get even worse if they don't knock it off with some of this stupid behaviour in public.

There are’t any violent protests in Portland though. Protests yes, violence and looting no. Hell the worst the DHS secretary could see was graffiti. That in no way means it’s time for the Gestapo.

If these are actual "protesters" and not the lunatic assholes from BLM and Antifa being arrested then we have a problem but, of course the left is going to call the disappeared "peaceful protesters" whereas, the Feds will call them "rioters and subversives".

My guess is that there's a little bit of truth in both those accusations. But if someone doesn't do something to stop the insanity this is going to get a lot worse before it gets better and sadly it kind of sounds like 1917 Russia doesn't it and we all know how well that turned out? 8O

1)The federal government should not be “disappearing” protestors with street abductions in unmarked vehicles, ANTIFA or otherwise, violent or non-violent. PERIOD. That is not the federal government’s role

2) Especially not since there has been no violence or destruction in Portland so claims from the righties that people are simply getting their just deserts are wrong as usual.

3( Law enforcement is a job for city and state officials who are actually suing the Trump admin to get them to sstop

The only recorded violence at these protests is when DHS starts arresting people.
