This news hasn't received nearly enough attention. Where are the names of the RESP companies who were purchasing these names? Let them all be outed so the trail of lawsuits can begin with earnest, as it should!

Agreed. That's pretty despicable.

Never happen though. The company I had my RRSP through was convicted of whatever 'bad trading' is, for making trades that made them money but lost me money on my RRSP. Set me back a decade sooner to being senile and homeless.

But I saw not a penny of those fines.

They won't lose a penny for bribing information out of a hospital clerk.

That really does suck. I don't wish identity theft on anybody, that's why I'm so neurotic about protecting mine. But then there are the 3rd party actors willing to steal your information on someone's behalf.

Luckily, there was no identity theft.

Our information was sold to companies looking to peddle their RESP's and other products. We got many calls and mailers but didn't act upon anything. Nothing has happened beyond that.
