This is being done to punish the IRS for their abuses of Tea Party and conservative groups and it's also punishng them for their ongoing coverup of the deliberate planning to use the powers of the IRS to retaliate against Obama's political enemies.

For the record: The Democrats did the same thing to the IRS in the aftermath of the impeachment proceedings against Nixon - who used the IRS as a weapon against his political enemies.

Yep. Talk big, enact tough laws, but cut back on enforcement. This hasn't happened only in the tax dept but across the board. Big talk about hiring more inspectors for TFW worksites, turns out the 40 inspectors they do have haven't done one investigation. Food safety, you name it. Even with criminal law - enact tough laws and mandatory minimums, but don't actually spend any more money on jails to house all these new criminals. It's the same deal every time theres a scandal about how some situation slipped under the radar. Enact a new law, because that costs very little, but don't actually look at spending money on enforcing that law. We mostly have the laws we need, just not the enforcement of those laws.

They apparently are trusting the inherent honesty of the American tax payer both individually and corporate to do the right thing.

What is the House of Representatives drinking or smoking?
