That's to pay for the power plants that they didn't build that will never generate power.

I can cut down and go all crazy prepper!! Or find out how the friend of hubbies got the solar panels for hydro he is getting 75cents KWH. You think the government FAILED math class!! They pay him 75 and charge us 12. How does that work I know I'm old and the kids tell me there is "new math" but I didn't firgure it could change that much!

So given that hydro prices are highly subsidized and ratepayers pay only a fraction of the true cost of electricity they use, what's the alternative to raising rates.... raise taxes?

or they could try the truth...

a real budget would be nice too One that says things like we make X so maybe we should not spend X to the power of 42 right now. They could grow a back bone and maybe cut some of their spending. Maybe some of the pet projects they were using to buy votes in big cities come to mind...

Who is subsidizing the rates? And how much?

Or not buy renewable energy at ridiculous prices. Every time I see a rate increase it's usually used as one of the excuses.

This is all thanks to McGuinty's Green Energy Act, another screw the voter act.

One of the biggest problems are the wind turbines, they produce something like 1% of the power but cost 11%. We should have a choice of meters, and a choice of taking our energy solely from hydro electric power which is cheaper.

Just another McGuinty scam.
