To be honest, I don't think Iran is in much of a position to do anything IF Israel does attack. While Iran does have a massive army and is formitable, it has little capability to project it's power more than a few hundred Km outside it's own boarders.

It isn't like it could mount an invasion of Israel, it doesn't have the navy for it. And, it's airforce would be little match to the Israel equivalent.

Israel needs the US to back them up. You can't take out Iran with a few airstrikes. They could nuke Iran, though.

Iran doesn't need a navy, they probably have the backing of nearly every Islamic nation in the Middle East. All they would have to do is start funneling weapons into those countries, the same as they's doing with Iraq. If Israel thought Palestinians were scary with suicide bombers and, mortars and Kalashnikovs, just wait till they have guided rockets.

As I understand it Israel lacks the Fighter Jets capable of making an Air Strike on Iran because of the distance, fuel and pay load. Also they would need approval from the Iraqi Government and United States to use Iraqi Air Space..

Not having planes would be a problem, however getting permission from Uncle Sam wouldn't be.

The US would give Israel the shirt off its back, even if it were 40 below.

Wasn't not too long ago when Israel was being regularly struck by rockets from Hezbollah in Lebanon?
I doubt there is much more Iran could do to Israel that has not already been done.
Also, I don't see Israel attempting any sort of invasion. They are much more likely to use airstrikes to take out military installations and whatever else they deem threatening.
