The Palestinian cause has active as long as the UN has been around.. you might even argue that one caused the other but that's another topic.

I love how Palestinians are never dealt with as individuals. Theyre just all one homogenous blob that supports hamas' actions uniformely(even if they didnt all vote...much less vote FOR Hamas) and deserves whats coming to it. Of course there are no anti violence or anti war palestinians in Gaza. Naaah. Variety of thought and philosophy and complexity of world view only happens in first world nations. Not a single one says "yeah I know what that Israeli gunship just did to my neighbor is horrific and settler encroachment is annoying as hell, but I cant blame every Israeli civilian for that so how bout we NOT send rockets over". Nope doesnt happen. EVER.

Thats what makes all these civilian deaths acceptable isnt it? Deep down people like you think every last one of them deserves it.

The myth of life is cheap in that corner of the world is a lie. It costs all of us and there is no excuse for this had it been any other country. Even Burma would be hard pressed to pull off the same tactics that happens here. Israel has a get out of jail free card because of a US veto on the security council and Hamas has no viable competition because they were allowed to have a militia at the time of the vote and the Arab nations simply do not want any troublesome militant party to deal with and will always excuse and encourage the excess and graft that is Fatah. So the people of Gaza are given a false choice and are shelled because of a situation they had no choice in.

Agreed. Human life is precious everywhere, moreso perhaps to those of us who don't believe our immortal soul is going places let alone that we have one.

Both are similar but unfeasible as long as the UN veto's and the Arab Nations are not willing to help the people of Palestine and instead feed their own interests. Frankly the Arab nations are gun shy of the whole mess because if they cozy up too much they risk getting shot by their own people. Only an independent third party can separate them or we move the whole lot to Nunavut and let them cool their heels.

I think Canada had decent credibility to pitch in and help out. Afghanistan might have changed that but might not considering how many reports we get of so many people not really realizing we are actually there.

If we got Palestinians and Israelies holding rallies in Ottawa then perhaps we can get help via popular support on the ground there from our very own citizens on both sides of the conflict.

The US is clearly not an option as is the UK.

Alot of people have posted about their desire to see Canada playing with the big boys and gaining world recognition. This seems like a very tough challenge but negotiating a good measure of peace would quite frankly show the world what we are capable of and cement our reputation for those that place that highly. I'm sure helping out our fellow humans mights also get a mention too.

Never ever going to happen because Israel would need to consent and as long as the aid keeps flowing from the US they have no compunction to do so. Also, there is religious ramifications of the end times if Israel was to ever accept such a deal of allowing foreign troops on their land. That will forever spook Israel from allowing such an option on the table to begin with.

Let's get a really big Palestinian, say about 9'6" wearing full body armour, and put him up against a scrawny little Jewish kid. Maybe give the Jewish kid a slingshot. Adn we'll see who wins. I bet that'll solve things once and for all.

We don't exactly ask for their permission. We will be going in to help the Palestinians ans restoring the original UN plan. If they balk at this then they truly will have no leg to stand on the next time they say they really want peace. World pressure is forcing China to send riot cops instead of tanks and Saudis to reconsider stoning of alduteresses. With a viable plan in place and a good shot and ending the conflict I don't think Israel would be able to resist world pressure that easily.

The end of times things is just boogyman nonsense that I don't believe really holds that much sway in Israel but I'll admit its not an aspect I had considered.

They play word games with "kill" and "murder" ala the 10Cs so perhaps somebody will term it properly so it doesn't violate the letter of the prophecy so to speak.

Personally either side rejected a reasonable compromise risks losing face, credibility, and world sympathy the next time the fur flies.

Palestinians are individuals. The same ones getting killed are not necesarily the same ones "that started this round of mayhem". A real obvious example of that are Little children who dont have a say in anything. Again, you're citing a valid casus belli for Israel here. The Palestinians are not going to win this militarily. And they're not going to win this politicially so long as they insist on attacking Israel.

If the idiots would cut it out with the jihad and follow the lead of Gandhi and MLK, Jr. they'd win this a lot easier and with a lot less bloodshed.

Palestine then has a responsibility to stop their people from attacks on Israel. But to the contrary they have not. Thus it becomes a war between nations and the Palestinians are dreadfully outclassed for this kind of thing.

Politics aside, the Palestinians made the strategic gamble with the rocket attacks and now they're paying the price.
