Ummm.....what's wrong with doing this in Ottawa, using existing offices and meeting rooms?

Then it wouldn't cost as much and they wouldn't get to see a bit of the country. Oh and there is no hope of a snow day

That was a waste of money too....what's your point, or are you maintaining your SOP and not bothering with one?

I know you like to hate on Trudeau, so just a reminder that the Cons did the same thing. Presumably a retreat is better held somewhere people can all stay together for the duration. Not much of a retreat if you stay in the office.

Meeting in Canada, anywhere, to talk about Canadian issues is fine with me.

Cool, so St.Andrews, NB works then. Not sure why this would be an issue. Yes it's a big country but they are representing the whole of it. Parliament is not in session until Jan.25 more than half of the cabinet is from eastern Canada, the costs could have in fact been cheaper than having the meeting in Ottawa since this retreat happens before parliamentary session and many will likely be travelling from the ridings that they represent.

Yes, that is where they are. Someone mentioned that the cabinets there were especially nice.

And for those who think we're still allowed to talk to the adults.

But, but, but, we're hip now. [cry]

I would appear that the rest of the world has suddenly realised what a majority of Canadians already know. Mr. Trudeau is all flash and no substance.

Sounds like we were always at the kiddie table:

$1:
Alghabra said the group of seven countries meet regularly, independently of Canada, and the only thing different this time is that they are meeting at the ministerial level.

...

"The common thing [between the countries invited] is that their contributions are either numerically larger than ours and increasing in some cases, such as both Italy and Germany, or they're continuing to contribute in a very important way to the air mission — Australia and the Netherlands, for instance," Perry said on Power & Politics.

Based on that, it sounds like the problem isn't the new government, but the fact that Canada's contribution is so tiny as to not give us a voice.

And the reason for such a small contribution is that no government since the 1960s, regardless of political ideology, has given the Canadian Armed Forces the equipment they need to do the jobs asked of them.

You seem like a pretty sensible character usually, but your creepy hard-on for Trudeau of late has me wondering if you're okay or not. I mean, I've been as big a critic as anyone of Trudeau as a candidate, but he's been on the job a week. He hasn't done anything yet, good or bad. We get that you want Trudeau to fuck up (I'm not sure why you'd want our prime minister to be a bad one, but clearly that's your hope). But you can't will it to happen by posting nonsense like that. It won't bring rain like a Native dance. No offence, but it just makes you sound like a partisan nut-job and I always thought you were more sensible than that.
