Alghabra said the group of seven countries meet regularly, independently of Canada, and the only thing different this time is that they are meeting at the ministerial level.

Based on that, it sounds like the problem isn't the new government, but the fact that Canada's contribution is so tiny as to not give us a voice.
And the reason for such a small contribution is that no government since the 1960s, regardless of political ideology, has given the Canadian Armed Forces the equipment they need to do the jobs asked of them.
