Kessel looked good last night - any real hockey fan know he's not the answer, but he's part of the solution. The Buds still need a frontline centre as Stajan really is a 3rd liner at best. A step in the right direction

We'll have to wait and see if the Kessel trade favours TO or Boston. He's a good young player, maybe even very good, but will he be worth those lost draft picks. Especially if Toronto doesn't start winning.

This is true, but drafting is still risky - Boston might still get a stinker. When you look at it, Burke traded for a first-round draft pick that was a proven commodity. Boston assumed the risk. Will it pay off? That's the hard part.

I'm hoping it pays off for Boston. 8)

Hell of a lot of pressure to dump on one player, if the nitwits among the Toronto media and fan base are doing what I suspect they're doing with Kessel. Phil could be Gretzky, Orr, and Lemieux all combined into one body and he still wouldn't be able to get the Leafs into the playoffs all by himself. It looks like Toronto will do the exact opposite of what they should do, and that's be patient with the rebuilding process. Burke's probably already getting squeezed towards making more dumb trades and giving up draft picks just to satisfy those who aren't willing to wait for long-term franchise success.

Funny how Vancouver still has NO cups. None. Actually, it's sad...any parades? The Blue Jays seemed to have a couple and the Raptors have a better chance than the Vancouver Grizzlies...oops...that hurt. :P

Oh...love this:

Most annoying HOCKEY Fans

"It’s remarkable how arrogant the fan base of a team with zero Stanley Cups, no Hall of Fame players, and two homoerotic Swedish twins that seem physically afraid of the playoffs can act."

They forgot no Hockey Hall of Fame too.

Actually, the Toronto media has been quite patient and if anything, highly critical of Burke (many wanted Kadri to skip the Knights). Howard Berger, in fact, has been really critical of the Kessel deal. This may shock the rest of Canada, but the media out here is often quite hard on the Leafs and they've been more than realistic about Kessel - many refer to him as a building block and many correctly lament the lack of the No. 1 centre to compliment his abilities. The only reason there's been some excitement is that he is a good player, with significant upside, and the season hasn't been going exactly to plan, so he's a bright spot (along with the Monster and Kaberle).
