Yep. I recall in 1994 going up to BC and essentially seeing a big 25% Off! sign on the whole country. I came back from that vacation with a lot of great Canadian goods and an empty wallet. [B-o]

Well, I say we should get use to paridy with the US dollar, but nothing like the 1.10 US for 1 cdn dollar like it was a few years ago. Bargin to eat and get gas in the US, but not much after that!!!!!

It was over $1.05 briefly in the fall of 2007, but never hit $1.10. Most economists (myself included) would choose a value in the low to mid $0.90s if asked what the ideal exchage rate would be. But given the US economy's weakness (and debt) and domestic inflationary pressures, I think we'd better get used to an at-par or better dollar. Our exporters need to tighten up their operations because the crutch that a low dollar has given these firms is a thing of the past, at least for the foreseeable future.
