When I lived in Labrador, a foot was a light dusting.

You have to remember that most people in the GTA come from somewhere else and a foot of snow is big news.

Plus the media here are utter wankers and the weather is always a lead story for the lazy journo's that infest the media. Too hot, too wet, too cold, too dry, snow, rain, take your pick for the headlines.

Yeah, true enough  Same for me. When I was in Winnipeg, 1 ft of snow was a pre-Hallowe'en dusting.

That was my thought, as well.

Here's what we get down here:

http://donnersummitareaassociation.org/ ... iving-fun/

$1:
Kirkwood Mountain Resort south of Tahoe reported its snowiest November in 30 years, while Alpine Meadows just north of Tahoe reported the largest single November storm in its history dropped 6 to 9 feet of snow.

$1:
Top Three Sierra Snowstorms:

March 27 to April 8, 1982 — 15.5 feet
January 20 to 31, 1969 — 13.7 feet
January 10 to 17, 1952 — 12.8 feet

The problem with the Rest of Canada's bleating about their winter is that it's completely and totally irrelevant. Southern Ontario focuses on southern Ontario and given the average snowfalls around here, dumping a foot of snow in a short period of time IS newsworthy. What makes this story even more darling to the RoC is that it includes Toronto.
