At lest he had the balls to admit it was not practical. I know people sometimes speak from their emotions and not their heads.

I got a few chuckles out of that. "May be impractical". Hoo boy.

Commence with the banning of clubs, rocks and fists!

You, with the hands, you're under arrest! Hands up!

Why? Because he, unlike certain other politicians, can actually personally admit he made a mistake?

No, because he ever thought that banning something as ubiquitous and multipurpose as knives would have an effect on crime.

Kinda like the airlines...you can't bring a toe-nail clipper on the plane because it could be used as a weapon...like a grown man needs toe-nail clippers to hurt someone if they wanted.

I thought they were worried I might rush the cockpit and give the pilot a pedicure. 8O

Kitchen knives are knives too, from what I recall. If you read the article, it seems that they weren't just talking about hunting knives. The police chief as well seems to believe the mayor was talking about all knives. Many people use steak knives as a weapon. Any kind of kitchen knife can be used as a weapon. Even a sharpened butter knife can be a weapon.

That's a compulsion you might want to discuss with a professional. 8O

I refuse to believe that anyone, even an elected politician, would be so out of it as to actually contemplate a ban on steak knives, kitchen knives, etc. They have to have been talking about certain kinds of knives, a desciption of which was never fully given.
